Blanche

I haven't written in a while because I knew I should broach the subject of Blanche and for obvious reasons I have been avoiding it. Last month my adorable little beastie took a turn for the worse and died. We are not sure why, it happened rather quickly. I know she had started sounding snotty and congested and she was even going to her vet to get more meds for it the morning after she passed away..in our house..and I am sure it wasn't pleasant for her.

One minute she was there and the next minute throwing up and I am quite sure gone, even though we rushed her to the emergency vet clinic. I have loved and cared for bulldogs a long time. I certainly understand all of the complications they deal with. Some are hardier than others and some you just look at and wonder how they get through the day.

Blanche had a rough life and she was not medically taken care of. When she was rescued and came to our house all of that changed and she got all of the care she needed and deserved. We only got to know and love her for 3 years. She was eight years old when she died. Over half of her life was spent spitting out puppies in a mill. Don't get me started.

But our little gremlin had the best personality and she was friendly and as active as she could be. Of course she was a calendar girl and  she won a selfie contest (500.00) for her rescue! She was so beautiful that we certainly put her in loads of our photos. She filled a void after we lost Oscar and I was hoping she would be around for many years to come. But life goes on and even though I send random texts to my husband everyday about how much I miss her I know that for her sake I will be foolish enough to reach out to another bulldog in need.  What if nobody had chosen to help her. Rescue has become something I am passionate about, not just bulldogs of course, but any animal.

I have to say that the spaniels...well Max..seem to miss her. Who knew that I would end up having them longer. I guess they are meant to be with me a little while longer. My only wish would be my little Blanche Marie would be here too. I will love her absolutely forever.

Yay for warm weather!

February in Santa Fe..who knew it could be so....warm! I was quite lucky to visit my adopted state in what has been considered one of their warmest winters in a bit!! No a snowflake in sight! Lots of walking around and enjoying the scenery. This trip I got to spend a little more time in Santa Fe thanks to a wonderful friend of Betsy's and Mark's (thanks Ray!) because it is usually really cold up on the top of their mountain and it is nice to be sure you have running water throughout the day.

We walked around town, ate my fave southwestern food, took a few pics and found a donut shop!

Whoo's Donuts In Santa Fe did not let me down. They had an excellent selection, some very well done classics as well as some exciting choices using such ingredients as lavender, pistachio, chili powder..to name a few. I generally have to get 2 or more and one of them has to be a chocolate donut. The above Dark Chocolate Crunch is to die for...they even use chocolate from their neighboring chocolate store. I highly recommend a trip to Whoo's, but get their fast this place does sell out.

It finally happened. A trip to Albuquerque for the Breaking Bad tour. So much fun. We cruised around for 3 hours in an RV, decorated on the inside to resemble the mobile meth lab. Not only did we see Breaking Bad locations, we got to see locations from other movies and tv shows that have been shot in and around the area. We got a breakfast burrito from Los Pollos Hermanos, got to pop in the Nail Salon used in Better Call Saul, cruised Jesse's house and ended up at the car wash.  the tour was run by a husband and wife team and they were very knowledgeable and most importantly fun! I even got 3 trivia questions right so I got to fly home with my little bags of blue rock candy!

Pretty good breakfast burrito at this place! Also know as Twisters, but you can see the sign inside.

Ended the tour at Walter White's house. Same owners for 40+ years! Welcomes the neighbors but the tour people are asked to stand in the street and snap a photo and not bother them..completely understandable!

Atticus and I like to take a stroll while Betsy works!

This is view from the back of the Rift Gallery, amazing!

Hello Las Vegas, New Mexico and the Plaza Hotel!

Headed to Santa Fe.

For this trip I flew into the Santa Fe airport and I have one word, so cute...maybe two words! I thought it was so neat to have such a small passenger lounge and one conveyor belt for your luggage. I watched a woman that worked there do about 3 different jobs in the span of about 45 minutes, she knew her stuff!

As always, plenty of stuff to do on my list for next year but until then..see ya New Mexico!!!!

Love is in the Air!

It's February...almost..and it is the month for love. Actually everyday should be filled with love but we will focus on the exciting day in February that we are supposed to eat chocolate!! How can you not love that? And for all of the non-chocolate eaters, it is the day for you to chow on whatever yummy confection you want. I really enjoy ice cream and donuts!

Luckily Oscar always loved a little bit of his own kind of chocolate so how could I say no to that face.  Being a dog, chocolate is a no-no so carob chips will have to do. I have tasted carob and was traumatized..ick..but Oscar never seemed to mind.

We have our own little cookies for our dogs and they are our Pudgie Balls. Yummy. Since it is the day of hearts we like for our treats to be all pretty.

There is one more thing that our resident princess Blanche loves almost as much as Pudgie Balls and that is lounging.
(see below)

Looks like she went on a treat tasting bender and this is the result!

Never to early to plan your pets Valentine's Day celebration, after all, they are your true love!!!

Vegas Vacation

Just last week my husband took a trip to Vegas with some friends. Sounds cool. They love going on a trip to Sin City...if it is still called that..? I jokingly asked if he was going to take the box with him because it had never been to Vegas before. I was quickly told...no. So I made a snarky comment and I thought that was the end of the topic.

Seems like Dave glimpsed the box he had taken to work and decided why not! So off the box goes.

Box popped up bright and early since they had pulled an all nighter just to get there.

Off for a riveting day at CES convention!

Apparently got lost on the way there!

Fought off an attack of the birds!

All in all seemed to have a great time without me.  I just want to point out that when the regular box goes it is "dressed" most of the time and trying to look professional. Apparently the party box was not  concerned with anything but having a good time! Whether the boxes pose with a Cronut or a beer you can bet they are having fun!

Till next time Vegas!

Happy Winter!

The holidays have come and gone and at the moment here in Athens, GA so has the warm weather...of which I prefer...but I do have a coat I really like to wear and a fun hat, so I can take the cold every once in a while.

I am very excited about this year.  I have several ideas I want to try, but then I always do and some make it and some don't. I'm hoping for some fun tee shirts to make an appearance this year and I really love some of the new party packages we are putting together for pets.

I am excited about travels as well...I think the box might make another year. It's back to Santa Fe next month to enjoy the cold (ha) and of course to hang with my buddies. I never get tired of New Mexico but I think that river rafting may have to wait till next year!

New Year...New Ideas......Can't wait!

Loving the holidays!

The holidays are here and while I may have just finished decorating the tree I have been baking and packaging treats like crazy.  The big Indie South Holiday Market was a big success this year.  I am so glad I was stuck at my table because I would have spent every penny I made at all of the other vendors tables. Incredible gifts to be had.

I love it when people make it a point to buy stocking stuffers for their pets! They like gifts too!

We had many gift ideas to choose from. Our double flavor gift bags didn't last through the first day!

Kennel Korn makes everyone happy!  Including me when I am making it!

At the end of the week Max decided enough was enough and didn't even stay awake for his own treats!

Thanks to some of the Star Wars fans out there for ordering some of our Star Wars shapes from our Etsy page..oscarbitesdogtreats...while some of them are hanging out at the movie tonight I will be making sure their pets get a special little something in their stocking this year!!
